READS
Daniels, Seiler, Schoenfeld, Helms — the concurrent-training literature.

An athlete who refused to pick.

I am the user. For years I’ve been the runner who lifts and the lifter who runs — long runs on Saturdays, heavy squats on Tuesdays, half-marathons in the spring, deadlift PRs in the fall. The two halves never quite fit on one calendar, and the coaching world never quite admitted it. So most weeks were a polite negotiation between two competing programs, with sleep and life as the deciding votes.

Hybrid Coach is the tool I built because I needed it. The first version is the coach I would have wanted three years ago: one that holds the whole plan, reads my last four weeks of actual training, and rewrites the week when I tell it I’m sore from yesterday. Not a chat bolted onto a spreadsheet. A coach.

Why build it now.

Two things changed at the same time. The training-science literature on concurrent training and polarized intensity distribution has matured enough that a serious plan can be written by someone who has read it carefully. And large language models are finally good enough to do the patient half of coaching — explaining why a Z2 day is a Z2 day, balancing volume across running and lifting, rewriting the week when life moves — without pretending to be a person.

That intersection is where Hybrid Coach lives. It is not a chatbot with a fitness prompt. It is a periodized plan that gets written for you, gets explained to you, and gets edited with you when reality intervenes. The five-step flow is the short version. The manifesto is the long one.

What I owe you.

Honesty about what the coach does and doesn’t do. A plan you’ll actually run. A reply when you write to hello@hybridcoach.ai. And the same respect for your time that I want from the tools I use.

If that sounds like a coach you’d want, the door is open.

Run. Lift.
We'll keep the calendar.
